Kansas History Museum – Topeka

The Kansas History Museum is a wonderful museum in the heart of Topeka, Kansas. The museum features exhibits devoted to Native American history, settling Kansas, Bleeding Kansas, and general Kansas history.

The Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum ::  The original portion of the Pieter Claesen Wyckoff House was built ca.1652 and is the oldest building in New York State.  It is also one of the oldest wooden structures in this country, and the entire structure was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1968.

Squire Boone's Chair  Made in the 1720s in Pennsylvania and belonged originally to Squire Boone, Daniel Boone's father. The chair was most likely purchased when the Boones lived in Berks County, PA. It went with the Boones to NC in 1752 when they settled on the Yadkin River in Rowan County. Then, it came to KY in 1779 when Daniel moved all the family there.
