This is a wider image which allows the whole wall and the kangaroo merchandise to be seen. The figure within this image has a connection to the camera which I like. This wider angle also allows more of the environment to be seen.
EDITING TRIAL (COHESIVE SERIES) 1: yellow tinge with a vignette: whilst cohesive I do not believe this is the style I am looking for, and believe the series could be much stronger aesthetically.
EDITING TRIAL (COHESIVE SERIES) 1: warm hues with desaturated colours and tones: I really like this overall look, and believe despite the clashing main colours that the two image flow together well. I will continue to implement this aesthetic across the rest of my images.
Whilst this image I believe is strong, I will not be using it as a final within my series for 2 reasons. 1) I have decided to only use images taken inside within this series. 2) This image highly reminds me of taking a photograph of a family member outside the house on their way to the 'big game'. Aesthetically and framing wise, I do like this image though. If I could translate this inside, which allows a bit more environment to be translated, I will like the image a bit more.
All of my selected final images together, to see if the series flows cohesively together.
This aesthetic and the tones of the overall image have been adapted from images that have inspired me greatly. I really enjoy how it has turned out within this first trial. I Will continue to trial this on my other images, including a different image of this individual, which has more of a connection to the camera.
whilst I believe this image strongly communicates the impact a football club can have on a family generationally, and the passion this family has for the club, I don't think I will be using it as a final as it was taken outside, and cohesively the rest of the images were taken inside.
I framed this image close so the details on the back wall were visible and could be seen. I enjoy this image but within this photograph a lot of the kangaroo merchandise has been cut off within this framing. I believe a wider image will be stronger within the series.
FINAL EIGHT: I decided to use this image as a final as there is a connection between the figure and the camera. The sporting club is still a massive feature within this image, and can be seen in multiple aspects. Aesthetically It also sits cohesively with the rest of the series.
Within this image I decided to remove 2 of the Melbourne storm posters, and make the third larger. I decided to do this as I wanted to get closer to the figures within the image, but in doing so this meant cropping out the posters completely. I do like this image and the framing, but believe the un-manipulated image is stronger conceptually, as more of their environment can be seen.
I like this image as the main subject is very relaxed but maintains a connection to the camera. The environment can be seen, however the sun outside contrasting against the shadows inside has caused the backdoor to be blown out, which will impact the series cohesiveness slightly. I do like this image and his connection to softball can clearly be seen through his uniform, and equipment.
I really like the framing of this image, as the club they support is prominent and there is a connection between the two figures, as well as one with the camera. Whilst I enjoy this image, I believe I have stronger images that can be used as finals.
This image has been framed closely to show the logo on his hat, along with his uniform and equipment within his hands. Whilst I particularly enjoy this image and believe it will sit well with the series, his environment is not as overly clear as it is in other images.
The composition and framing of this image I believe is strong, as it shows his Richmond Poster has pride of place within his own personal workshop. I believe that the meaning is conveyed well. I am not overly pleased with the editing, but tried out this yellow tinge with a vignette to try and find a cohesive style which will flow over the course of my series. I do not believe this is the style I am looking for.
FINAL FOUR: I decided to use this image as my final as a previous image i took of this family felt a little bit like a typical family photo that you would find in a family photo album. And I decided during my reshoot, I would capture a little bit more of a relaxed style, that will capture the families interaction as a unit as well as highlight their sporting club. This image still has a connection to the camera, as the little boy on the right maintains eye contact with the camera.
Action Shot of Father and Son in Law, whilst this image portrays the family idea which instinctively comes to mind. I however prefer the shot of 'Son in Law' on his own more, as I think it is stronger.
