"A pilgrim tale worthy of Chaucer, by a master storyteller" -- Brenda Rickman Vantrease, speaking about the new novel SINFUL FOLK ((historical novel of the Middle Ages.... illustrated by New York Times bestseller Nikki McClure.))
A heart-pounding thriller that interweaves two murder mysteries, one on Belle Vie, a historic landmark in the middle of Lousiana’s Sugar Cane country, and one involving a slave gone missing more than one hundred years earlier.
If you like puzzles and history, and are entertained by conspiracy theories, or you just like it when patterns from history emerge before your eyes... this is a really good book. Adult reading level, high school+ appropriate content. It's sequel, The Fire, is just as good.
40. Geek Love by Katherine Dunn: 5/5 stars (July) This novel has to be one of the most, if not the most, weird reads that I have ever come across. At times grotesque, repulsive, and bizarre, this book balances it's unrelentingly raw nature with a poignant and deeply moving look at the complicated relationships and loves of an American family.
