Remember the sounds that old cash registers made? I remember some stores, I recall Kmart, had a sticker on the register that read "Sound Off!" Meaning they had to say the price aloud that they rang it up.

Baltimore girl, 1920s "A Baltimore girl wears her boyfriends photograph on her stockings. As hemlines rose, attention was focused on stockings and shoe fashions. Ribbed and patterned stockings were fashionable, such as checked tights for sports, and stockings were made out of cotton, wool, silk or rayon. Patterned legs would be popular again, but not until they accompanied mini-skirts in the Sixties." Scanned from "Decades of Fashion" by Harriet Worsley.

Wringer washer 1930 ~ This reminds me of Daddy's saying: Don't get your tit in the wringer! Translation: Stay out of trouble!

I remember using one like this with my Mother in the when we lived in AZ. This machine was in a laundry mat. As a child I helped my Mother with the laundry and we had wringer washers and rinse tubs!

Love this-only got to go about once a year as a family. Everyone was healthier back then.

McDonalds and the Golden Arch! Back then my dad would say "let's go to the golden arches," not McDonalds! Their food was much better back then!
