Pictured is what is commonly known as a miner's wicklamp which was hung from their helmets to provide light in the mine shafts. This example however may have a different purpose. According to the previous owner of this unused lamp (it and others like it), were originally owned by Maryborough City Council and were used by water and sewer workers to inspect pipes in the Woodstock Street lines. Information from Trove suggests that sewer pipes for Woodstock Street were being discussed in 1947.

This dressing table set features hand-painted pheasants and includes 2 x candle holders, large tray, pin tray, 3 x trinket boxes and of course the all important hatpin holder. Some sets also included ring holders and loose hair receptacles where hair that accumulated in the hairbrush was placed.(Private Collection)
