For Me and My Gal. Judy Garland & Gene Kelly. A first for both. For Kelly it was his screen debut and for Judy it was the first time where her name would appear above the title alone. With a musical score that would inform her latter concert performances, it is here we get our first inkling of the later artist Garland would evolve into. For all it's Wartime bravado, it is the beauty & subtlety of Judy & Gene together that gives this film it's heart.
