Somewhere in the Kunsthof-passage of Dresden, Germany, there’s actually an outdoor building wall that makes music whenever it rains. Christoph Roßner, Annette Paul and Andre Tempel, who live in the building, were the ones who decided to rig a bunch of funnels to coax a grand performance out of musical instruments by hydraulic action. It’s crazy, we can’t think of a better reason to wish for bad weather.

As sound enters the ear it causes waves to form in the endolymph, which in turn cause the hairs to move. The movement is converted to an electrical signal that is passed on to the brain. Each crescent-shaped arrangement of hairs lies atop a single cell.
