When I was a teanager, my Dad's friend from the K of C had a friend that collected corvairs and every once in a while he would stop by in a different one for me to crawl all over. I thought that was the one of the most thoughtfull things ever.

Corvair a great car.

"Penny Corvair". Someone glued pennies all over this Chevrolet Corbair. I don't know why. Most were from 1994

This looks like my first bike. I rode it all over England (probably less that 5 sq miles in all but that's a lot when you're a 10yo). The story I've always heard is that our stuff had already been shipped from Germany to England when my Mom won the bike in a bowling alley raffle. It was still boxed, so they managed to fit it into the Corvair that we were driving and away we went to our new duty station at Bentwaters AFB.

In late June 1955, we drove from Mississippi to Los Angeles in a 1954 Ford. Our Southern route took us through a very hot Texas, Arizona & New Mexico. My dad found a used portable air conditioner to go on the front passenger window. I never expected to find a photo of it, but here it is. The only problem was that Dad found a *used* one, and just about every hour it spit water all over the person riding shotgun - my 16 yr old sister who didn't want to ride in back with "the children."

For sheer driving pleasure, though, it would have to be the from Pickering to Whitby - a fairly fast single carriageway up over the North Yorkshire Moors, with impressive scenery all around.

CORVAIR looks like the first car I actually bought by myself.
