Black History Month Feb. 2010 on Dr. Jay's site. In 1926 Dr. Carter G. Woodson, a Harvard Ph.D, launched “Negro History Week” in the second week of February. In 1976 (the 200th birthday of the U.S.), it was extended to the entire month of February to allow for more time to celebrate with various activities and events. Today, DrJays.com will be kicking off BHM with daily tributes to African-American fashion icons – past and present.
