April 2011 ~ Charles Hamilton Houston (1895-1950) was an attorney, educator, and Civil Rights activists. He worked with the NAACP and was influential in training young Civil Rights lawyers at Howard University, including Thurgood Marshall. Houston became known as the “man who killed Jim Crow.” He used his legal talents for desegregation by arguing for equality. Houston was a major factor in the landmark Brown v. Board in 1954 before the U.S. Supreme Court.
