Then Santa Claus on a reindeer powered sleigh made an appearance,  beginning a long history of  "The Santa Claus Lane Parade." It was later named "The Hollywood Christmas Parade" It always begins in front of the Chinese Theatre and goes about 2.5 miles down Hollywood Blvd. I used to watch it every year...
