Southern Airways

FLORIDA 10 November 1972 - Southern Airways Flight 49 was successfully hijacked by three passengers and forced to fly to Cuba. Cuba returned the airplane, crew, passengers, and ransom money to the US and sentenced the hijackers to prison.

12 December 1985 - Arrow Air Flight 1285 carrying U.S. troops crashed shortly after takeoff from Gander, Newfoundland, Canada. The cause was Atmospheric icing, weight and reference speeds miscalculation.  All 256 aboard died.
