March 7, 1965 Sunday Chronicle readers awoke to news that The Pentagon was sending two battalions of Marines to South Vietnam, the first U.S. ground combat troops sent to help fight against North Vietnamese troops. More than 58,000 U.S. troops would be killed before the fall of Saigon in 1975.........  May LBJ rot in the pits of Hell. He could teach Satan new tricks. TFP..
