Science Sparks - Viscosity Races: Investigating the flow of liquids

Viscosity experiment for kids

Rhiannon, a 25-year-old Zoology graduate, bakes cakes that portray the planets' layers using powder, liquid and gel paste to draw the continents of the Earth and the beautiful swirls of Jupiter. Jupiter’s rock/ice core is made from mudcake, almond butter serves as the liquid metallic hydrogen, and the liquid molecular hydrogen is actually a layer of colored vanilla. Yummy, and educational!
