This is a chart of the Runes and their meanings. I keep a copy of this in my BOS for reference occasionally. Between knowing the Tarot, then the Runes, a witch's brain does tend to get overloaded and need a cheat sheet.
Menno Simons 1496 - Jan 31, 1561 - A Dutch Catholic priest that embraced anabaptism in 1536. Spent years traveling through Holland and Germany preaching his faith. He was convinced that pacifism was essential to Christianity and refused to have anything to do with revolutionary anabaptists. The Mennonites were scattered through out eastern Europe finding refuge in Russia then North America and eventually South America.
From 1515 to 1523, Charles' government in the Netherlands also had to contend with the rebellion of Frisian peasants (led by Pier Gerlofs Donia and Wijard Jelckama). The rebels were initially successful but after a series of defeats, the remaining leaders were captured and decapitated in 1523.
Forseti (Old Norse "the presiding one," actually "president" in Modern Icelandic and Faroese) is an Æsir god of justice and reconciliation in Norse mythology. He is generally identified with Fosite, a god of the Frisians. Jacob Grimm noted that if, as Adam of Bremen states, Fosite's sacred island was Heligoland, that would make him an ideal candidate for a deity known to both Frisians and Scandinavians, but that it is surprising he is never mentioned by Saxo Grammaticus.
