CBGB (right) opened in December 1973 in the East Village and became known as the birthplace of American punk rock. It closed in October 2006 when it lost it's lease.   I remember those punk rock-new wave days of the 70's to the 80's! Great times! I saw the original CBGB awning, after being taken down when CBGB lost it's lease, in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Happy to know no one else will forget it...I know I won't!
