Gate Of All Nations, Persepolis  Persepolis, situated in modern Iran, used to be the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (ca. 550–330 BCE), also known as the First Persian Empire. The ancient Persians named it Pārsa, meaning "The City of Persians".  The Gate of all Nations, shown in this image, consisted of a grand hall , with four columns and its entrance on the Western Wall.
