Chains, called riazni, were created from small cloisonné enamel medallions. The chains may have joined layers of dress, been worn as necklaces or bracelets, or used to suspend circular or crescent-shaped pendants known as temple pendants or kolti

Medallion, before 1227. Limoges, France Copper, champlevé enamel. These medallions probably come from a large traveling chest that belonged to Cardinal Guala Bicchieri. A collector and bibliophile, he purchased several such coffrets in Limoges and took them to his residence near Turin. Later the medallions were used as decorative elements on the choir stalls of the Church of Saint Sebastian in Biella.

Karl IV. erwarb bei seiner Wallfahrt zum Grab der hl. Elisabeth in Marburg 1357 eine goldene Brosche der Heiligen, die aus fünf Edelsteinen in Form eines Andreaskreuzes, verbunden mit vier Perlen, besteht. Karl ließ die Reliquie auf eine mit Schrift verzierte Plakette aus Edelmetallen montieren und stiftete sie an das in Udine befindliche Grab von Bertrand, dem 1350 verstorbenen Patriarchen von Aquileia.
