William "Green Bar Bill" Hillcourt was the author of the 6th, 7th, and 9th editions of The Boy Scout Handbook. He penned a column in Boys' Life magazine from 1932 until 1965, wrote The Handbook for Patrol Leaders in 1929, and completed a biography of Baden-Powell in 1964. A familiar figure to many, and always happy to provide an autograph, this Denmark-born Scouter had a profound influence on the Scouting movement.
