heart of lagoon nebula. (hubble)

This close-up shot of the center of the Lagoon Nebula (Messier clearly shows the delicate structures formed when the powerful radiation of young stars interacts with the hydrogen cloud they formed.

Neutron star

Artist\'s impression of neutron star. Neutron stars are formed when large stars run out of fuel and collapse. To get a neutron star, you need to have star that’s larger than about solar masses and less than 5 times the mass of the Sun.

The European Southern Observatory used its VISTA telescope in Chile to capture a view of the planetary nebula that is usually invisible to the human eye, Space.com reported. The telescope's sensors are extremely sensitive to infrared light, which allowed it to pick up previously unknown strands of cold, thinly-spread gas (visible here as a dark red haze).

ESO's Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA) has captured this unusual view of the Helix Nebula (NGC in this space wallpaper. The Helix Nebula is a planetary nebula located 700 light-years away.

If this doesn't blow your mind, nothing will, and this is just ONE of trillions upon trillions of galaxies!!!

If This Doesn’t Blow Your Mind, Nothing Will

Other than a handful of deep sky objects (galaxies, nebulas, star clusters) that can be seen w/ the naked eye, this statement is basically correct. The stars we can see do generally fit inside that circle.

Pulsar: "Black Widow," is moving through the galaxy at a speed of almost a million kilometers per hour. A bow shock wave due to this motion is visible to optical telescopes, shown in this image as the greenish crescent shape. The pressure behind the bow shock creates a second shock wave that sweeps the cloud of high-energy particles back from the pulsar to form the cocoon.

The “Black Widow” pulsar moves at a speed of KM/hr. A bow shock wave is the greenish crescent shape. The pressure behind the bow shock creates a second shock wave that sweeps the cloud of high-energy particles back from the pulsar to form the cocoon.

The 'Hand of God' Nebula

The ‘Hand of God’ Nebula. Was so ready for this to be a crock of shit or over photoshopped - but NASA website confirms! This is a real Nebula formation - truly the hand of God!
