Originally, named as Ariocarpus scapharostrus in 1930 later changed to A. scaphirostris in 1992. This is a very rare cactus and very difficult to find when not in flower due to its camouflage behavior and being almost buried in scree. I found it in the town of Rayones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Found almost on vertical cliffs that is difficult to climb due to the crumbling rocks. I only managed to find five that day. ph.:  Amante Darmanin
