This chilling picture of an unknown Union soldier who survived the Andersonville prison camp during the US Civil War highlights the atrocities committed at Confederate military prisons in the 1860s. Built in 1864, the prison housed more than 45,000 Union soldiers, 13,000 of whom died due to disease, poor sanitation, malnutrition and overcrowding.

Canadians were given a name by the Germans in World War l Canadians were called Storm Troopers. German soldiers feared the Canadians, gave them a scary name. Hitler reused that name for his own troops in WWll because it put fear into people.
