"From the 1920's till halfway into the 1970's the Catskill Mountain area was a major resort destination for Jewish New Yorkers. During the 70's flying got cheaper and therefore vacation destinations changed and the whole area, nicknamed "The Borsjt Belt" was left abandoned in a short period of time...This hotel was one of the big hotels with a private swimming pool, bowling lane and night club."
Wanna swim? The abandoned swimming pool is about all that’s left of the old Rose Island Amusement Park that was destroyed back in the 1930’s when the Ohio River flooded. After all these years, it still holds water by twhrider (Louisville)
