Watermelon is an excellent fruit that effectively hydrates, detoxifies, and cleanses the entire body on a cellular level. It is rich in vitamins A and C as well as lycopene, beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin which are excellent for providing protection from lung, mouth, pancreatic, breast, prostate, endometrial, and colon cancer.
The first oral contraceptives, aka the pill, was approved in the U.S. in 1957, but only for women with severe menstrual problems. In 1960, it could be prescribed as a contraceptive and within 5 years 6.5 million women were using it, even though it was still illegal in 8 U.S. states. Although it's side effects caused it to lose popularity by the late 1970s, safer and lower dose forms of the pill became available in the late '80s.
