Reading Corporation Transport Trolleybus. 182. VRD 182. Service 17 Seen here in Broad Street in August 1968.It is about to head east to Wokingham Road. 182 is a Sunbeam F4A with Burlingham H38/30F bodywork. It entered service on the 18 June 1961 and became the last public service trolleybus to operate in Reading on 3 November 1968 when the system closed.

The People's Pantry: Towards the end of 1942 and the beginning of 1943, German air raids on Britain intensified. On 10 February 1943, four bombs were dropped on Reading town centre. The Town Hall on Blagrave Street was badly damaged as were businesses on Minster Street. 41 people were killed, mostly customers at the People’s Pantry in Market Arcade. Fortunately half day closing meant that the number of civilian casualties was much lower than it could have been.
