The River Test from Fulling Mill bridge

Dragon Hill Dragon Hill is a natural chalk hill with an artificial flat-top (situated on the scarp slope of White Horse Hill), to which clings the legend that it was on its summit that Saint George slew the dragon. A bare patch of chalk upon which no grass will grow is purported to be where the dragon's blood spilled. It has been suggested as some sort of Iron Age ritual site associated with the nearby hill-figure.

Described by Ruskin as ‘trembling + pure, like a body of light’, English chalk streams are the envy of the world. Some 160 (80%) of the world’s 210 chalk rivers are here. They trickle gently through tranquil countryside, from the becks of the Yorkshire Wolds to the Itchen in Hampshire + the endearing Piddle in Dorset.

210 chalk streams in the world, and 160 of those are in England. - The clear water of the meandering River Kennet chalk stream at Axford, Wiltshire.
