The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge, and linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset, England.

The opening on this day 8th December, 1864 of Clifton Suspension Bridge over the River Avon at Bristol, designed by Isambard  Kingdom Brunel when he was just 24. There have been over 500 suicides since the bridge opened.
