Sink or Float?: Gather your materials. You will need a plastic tub, some plastic Easter egg, tape to cover the holes they have, and a range of items to pack inside. We chose a lego, some feathers, coins, ROCKS and dry pasta. You will also need some crayons in the same colors as the eggs, a marker and paper to make a prediction and results chart.

Investigation area. Enhanced with brightly coloured water (just using a small squirt of paint!), transparent pipettes, jars, tubes etc. encouraging the children to explore with colour mixing, and allowing them to watch the water travel through the various objects.

Bring a basket of loose parts, natural materials and other pieces to the water table. First ask them to guess which sink or float and then ask them to see if they were right or not. This activity is good to see how materials interact with water.
