Richard Long makes sculpture by the simple act of walking amonst other things. Key to Land Art, his work is ‘simple creative acts of walking and marking about place, locality, time, distance and measurement’. All this is evident in the form of photographs, text, sculptures and mud works on the walls. Rachel Whiteread, 'Untitled (Ppbks)' 1997 is a plaster cast from a polystyrene mold on a steel mount. Whiteread made the piece in 1997 and it is currently in the MoMA collection. Installed as an entire room, facing the interior, these casts contain subtle hues and signs of wear on old texts or the generic binding of library books. www.portfolio-oomph.com Online support covering all aspects of applying to art college.
