Sraddha translates as "faith", "trust and confidence" (in the rightness of what you're doing and in divine sympathy), "firm conviction" (free of doubt), "positive attitude" (even in adversity), "acceptance" (of traditional teachings and your teacher's words), and "sweet hope" (in the ultimate success of your practice). In Sanskrit, the word is feminine; gentle and supportive; "benevolent like a mother; she protects the yogi." Holding to faith, the mind becomes tranquil and gathers strength.
