Yep, I’ve been there too. 

Our minds have this weird knack for spiraling into negativity when we least need it. Anxiety and worry take over, impacting our mental wellbeing. But what can actually help us in those moments?

Well I’m a BIG FAN of getting out of our heads. Whether that’s movement like a walk or engaging in something nutritious for our mind like art making - we bridge te awareness back into the body, which ultimately helps us get out of our heads.

I know not ever world problem and thought on our mind will be solved simply with a walk or a scribble. But what I can tell you is that this therapeutic art prompt helped me take this concept and reconfigure it visually. It’s important to remember that WE are not one dimensional. We are not stagnant or stuck. We are constantly growing, flexing and changing. So this up/down in/out spiral with art on both sides is a great way to remind ourselves that we can’t feel down forever. We can’t even feel up forever! That life is a bouncing spiral web and what’s important is how resilient we are to pick ourselves back up when we are down. To trust that we have the capacity to get out of our head when we are caught up in a story. But also give ourselves compassion and love to feel our deep emotions too. We need both!
