The Sapperton Canal Tunnel is a tunnel on the Thames and Severn Canal near Cirencester in Gloucestershire, England. With a length of yards it was the longest canal tunnel, and the longest tunnel of any kind, in England from 1789 to Canal Barge, Canal Boat, Forest Of Dean, Narrowboat, England And Scotland, Stoke On Trent, River Thames, Treasure Island, Places To Travel

The Sapperton Canal Tunnel is a tunnel on the Thames and Severn Canal near Cirencester in Gloucestershire, England. With a length of 3,817 yards it was the longest canal tunnel, and the longest tunnel of any kind, in England from 1789 to 1811.

On the Trent and Mersey Canal, this seventy foot long boat offers coal to boaters and remote canalside properties. Most locks on the system were built 72 feet long, so this is the maximum length of narrowboat built for the canals.
