'maurizio anzeri: makeup art or embroidered portraits' - evelyne politanoff, 2012 [huffington post article + series of maurizio anzeri images]

An artist known as 'Lara Lisa' created this piece of art called 'Crazy Woman'. This image is photographed, both of the girl and the image of the street which is replacing her face. This image relates to the 'openings' theme because the street is of an opening - it also links in with 'disguise' as her face is disguised by a street and the edit makes it seem as though she's holding the picture over her face to hide it. Photoshop has been used to create this whole image.

Animals, You're an Animal, Don't take anything less . / Animal, Song by James Bellamy. 🎤 animal masks on photographic portraits are the work of French artist Charlotte Caron.

Photographer Richard Burbridge, Italian artist Maurizio Anzeri and stylist Robbie Spencer created these string art portraits that combine black and white photography and intricate string work to make the images vibrant, 3D pieces. I am really digging this photo embroidery trend.

Scotch taped portraits by Wes Naman

Wes Naman is currently based in New Mexico and he has created this hilarious scotch tape series. Naman has stuck layers of tape all around peoples faces giving them rather odd and funny features. Prints are available on his online shop via his website.

Gateshead: Psychological Threads

These are a collection of manipulated portraits, they have had sweets and patterns edited over their faces creating distortion.

We've posted up some of Lucas Simoes' work before and we're sure it won't be the last. There's something really neat about these melted/burned photographs.
