Berenice Abott, Vanderbilt, From E. 46th Street, Manhattan. (1935-1938, printed 1935-ca. 1990). From a collection of 300+ of her pictures in the NY Public Library collections, that you can now view at leasure. Berenice Abbott was the heir to Eugene Atget in more than one way. Not only do we owe her Atget's great portrait (see elsewhere in my boards) and did she take care of Atget's work, but she also documented evolving New York in the way that Atget had documented disappearing Paris.
