One of the most successful places that writers can go to learn about a new topic or to expand their content offerings is to a MOOC.

It’s just been just over half a year since massive-open-online-course (MOOC) portal Coursera partnered with China’s online media giant Netease to create a fully localized version of its service, Coursera Zone.

Similar conversations have been taking place at major universities around the world, as dozens — 74, at the last count — rush to sign up. Science, engineering and technology courses have been in the vanguard of the movement, but offerings in management, humanities and the arts are growing in popularity.
