iPhoneography – { green man } - My son has an iTouch and although young is developing an enjoyment for mobile photography. During one of our joint excursions whilst waiting for my daughter I had this idea to take a double exposure Hipstamatic shot. My son got a huge kick from the ghostly impression it gives him. The amazing thing though is that from this idea my son has gone on and created multiple exposure type effects by blending several images with some impressive results.

iPhoneography – { geometry } - The location with leading lines, shadows and strong geometric shapes is such a powerful composition that it is perfect for my fisherman style of street photography. As strong as the location is it needed a figure and ideally a single one. Having got into position it was just a case of waiting for the right character to walk through the scene.

iPhoneography – { dream } - It is not really a photograph in the true sense but is a typical example of my main objective – to create an atmosphere rather than capture a scene. The joy of artistic iPhoneography compared to journalistic / documentary works is the free reign to create something unique and unreal from a relatively mundane base.

This is close to what I regard as my iPhoneography style. I often state that my aim is not to capture a scene, instead I like to create an atmosphere.

iPhoneography { dancing on lincoln high street } - By my standards it is quite journalistic with very little post processing. This image demonstrates to me the importance of my iPhone because it was taken when my new iPhone5 was being repaired. Instead of leaving the house empty handed, I took my old iPhone4 purely in case an iPhoneography opportunity presented itself. The iPhone truly is an iCamera to me.

iPhoneography – { steam train } - The kind of happy accident anyone with an iPhone or other mobile phone can have. I was walking through my city and I saw quite a lot of people around with cameras. I asked what was happening and was told about this train. I headed straight for University Bridge, a vantage point being occupied by only one other person. I took this iPhoneography shot as the train approached. Subsequently I processed it to give a miniature impression and enhance the atmosphere.

iPhoneography – { best friends } - It has a timeless feel and is processed to emphasise that aspect. ‘Best Friends’ represents one of the strongest influences in my images, my family.

Best Friends - exhibited at the InstaChimps mobile photography / iPhoneography exhibition in Lincoln - my son and Scruffy and inseparable.

iPhoneography – { artist at work } - Candid street photography represents a genre that gives me the most satisfaction but places me outside of my comfort zone. I am an introvert by nature and prefer to avoid situations where even the remotest possibility of conflict may exist. I really enjoy the relationship between these three figures.

iPhoneography – { memories } ... it was the music that was really evocative for him and brought back many happy memories of him and his wife listening to the wireless.
