In 1965 - a Ph.D. degree in computer science @ University of Wisconsin. Her dissertation work involved constructing algorithms that performed analytic differentiation on algebraic expression, written in CDC FORTRAN 63. I hope that as we keep sharing about her on Facebook and in conversations with friends, her name will become a "household word." She has made the lives of countless millions better because of her contribution to creating the Social Security system in the United States. Although the system is flawed, it is a very good start towards eliminating poverty. If she were alive today she would disapprove of any cuts to Social Security and do what she could to increase benefits and strengthen the system. Lawrence, O Donnell
