Moribund Tradition of Durga Idol Making
Several debates surround the moribund tradition of using mud of the brothels. Durga Idol making is incomplete without the pristine clay from the house of the prostitute. The belief is that the soil should be begged for and received from a prostitute’s hand as a gift or blessing. The soil is then used in the preparation of Durga Murti which is worshipped during Durga Puja.
