Picketts Charge
The interpretive museum of the Adams County Historical Society encourages visitors to open a basement door in the new museum, to get an idea of what Gettysburg resident Sarah Brodhead saw. The painting here shows a small number of wounded soldiers who crawled into the building's basement July 2 and 3, but were unable to get out of several inches of water that flooded the basement and engulfed them July 4.
