These paper-made Panjabis, a traditional dress of Bangladesh, were used to decorate the gift basket for a groom on his Gaye Halud program, a very traditional part of Bengali wedding, in which the groom/bride is anointed with turmeric paste, a symbol of purity. Two kinds of paper crafts have been used here: Kirigamy and quilling. These yellow Panjabis are reminiscent of Himu - a very popular character of Bangladeshi great novelist Humayun Ahmed, who used to wear yellow Panjabi all the time.
