naughts and crosses made out of a tree stump #abcdoes

Got my husband to make me a noughts & crosses game for my outdoor area, using a tree stump & his chainsaw! We use natural objects to play the game i. Pebbles, shells, fir cones or tiny wooden cookies.

Constructing using pool noodles and cardboard boxes. Unlike a lot of the block area play that uses small or medium sized pieces this activity uses large pieces. Great for making tunnels or forts and promoting gross motor movement and development. An adult would need to be cutting holes for the pool noodles if they were not already cut.

The children and artist Helen Barry play chasing through the den they have created.
