Heinz Tomato Ketchup This ad shows the need to satisfy curiosity. It shows this by having the ketchup bottle look like slices of tomatoes. Which satisfies the curiosity that it is made with real tomatoes.

Our first year fashion design students are taught by illustrator Richard Gray. These are a selection of first year students fashion illustration work, depicting this seasons runway collections.

The BA (Hons) Fashion Design degree course at the University of Westminster has an outstanding reputation for teaching and developing highly talented designers.

I felt this was a great use of visual metaphor because it creates the idea that the lego block are literally the block to the imagination. By having these simple block like figures together with the use of more identifiable figures as the shadows. The idea that these blocks are the tools for children to express their imagination is expressed.

Here are some clever LEGO ads by FCB Johannesburg showing that kids might not necessarily need elaborate kits, and what a simple LEGO brick design might look like through the eyes of a child.

This visual metaphor is also an illusion. I thought this was a good example for the idea of health is represetned through the symbolic meaning of a heart. This meaning has than been further developed through the creation of the heart being from sneakers and drink bottles therefore communicating the idea that if you purchase and use these products you would therefore be a health person

This visual metaphor was a good comparison between the reality and what people really think. By making changes to the physical attributes of a persons head and manipulating it to appear like paper their is a real emphasises on the fragile state of a skull in a car crash. by using he metaphor of paper it communicates the fragility and vulnerable nature of the skull.

I found this example of visual metaphor to express the characteristics of the marketed car. By taking the rhino which is strong, tough, aggressive and protective. These traits are then expressed in the terms of the hidden and unknown for the rhino is placed underneath the 'Skin' of the vehicle.

Anthony - A Mitsubishi print, this advertisement provides a visual take on the rather cliche metaphor 'built like a rhino'. It may be literal in this advert but does well in its purpose to convey the metaphor.

I though this was a good example of visual metaphor as it uses the idea of chocking and the activity of smoking-which is knowingly causing self harm. These ideas are conveyed as a metaphor through the use of a noose which is suicide through the exfoliation of the air ways- A more exaggerated effect of smoking.

This anti-smoking ad adds to the many points that smoking kills. In this case, it depicts smoke forming a noose around the neck of an otherwise unaware woman. This shows that smoking slowly kills whether the smoker knows it or not.

This phrase alone has enough meaning but it is once this shocking image is included that the baby as a pig creates a metaphor. It is taking an iconic image (the pig as the main feast) and than twisting that to say that our future (children) is what we are consuming and destroying.
