34021 was a SR West Country/Battle of Britain class locomotive. Built in 1945 'DARTMOOR' served SR until July 1967, when it was withdrawn from service. Seen here at Cashmore's (Newport) yard in March 1968, just prior to being broken up ..... it is already devoid of the 'air smooth' boiler casings, a familiar feature of this class.
