Murshida Ada Rabia Martin. First American Murshid(a) of any Sufi Order. Appointed by Hazrat Inayat Khan, Murshida Martin recognized Meher Baba and initiated the affiliation that resulted in Sufism Reoriented, an autonomous Sufi order within the broader Meher Baba community. Her successor, Murshida Ivy O. Duce, met and worked closely with Meher Baba in "reorienting" the order.
