The head of the guerrilla outfit the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement (BIFM) has died after suffering a stroke in the Philippines, military sources said. Ameril Umbra Kato, a Muslim rebel chief whose forces in the southern Philippines have pledged support to the Islamic State group and opposed peace with the Philippine government, died. Citing initial reports, Kato’s death was reportedly caused by a stroke.
