An alley in Moss Side, Manchester, photographed Monday 15th December 1969. I think these were the backs of houses in Claremont Road. Gangs of Manchester Corporation workmen used to, literally, sweep through these alleys in an effort to keep them clear of refuse. One of them, with his broom, can be seen halfway along the alley.
