Use Bigger Tiles – will have fewer lines; less lines= bigger room.Keep tiles above 12 inches.Use tiles bigger than 16 inches. White Grout -Reason? the lighter the floor looks, the bigger the room looks. Small lines – small lines in between the tiles. Do not go any larger than a 3/8 inch grout line; best: a 1/8 grout line- clean, easy to do and makes your tile stand out a lot more. Diagonal lines – makes room look bigger; takes people’s sight off walls and on floors.
The steps were carpeted and one day I decided to rip it off, and I must say I am happy with that decision. This floor is an open floor plan and having the steps painted was a great way of drawing your eye to the design of the decor. The planters are West Elm, the throw is from Ikea, the pillows are Anthropologie and Target.
we tore the carpet off of our stairs and did the beadboard risers with wood treads and white pickets....but I'm thinking I'd love to do the walls leading to the stairs with this style trim work/bead board. Wow does that look awesome!
Monochrome chic. Simple is best in a narrow hallway. White painted stairs make them appear wider and the grey runner is both practical and elegant. Seek out a slim console - vintage or modern - thats useful and decorative but not space-consuming.
