On July 25, 1969, Manson sent Bobby Beausoleil, 21, Mary Brunner, & Susan Atkins to Gary Hinman’s home to persuade him to give them money. They held Hinman hostage for 2 days, during which Manson showed up with a sword to slash his ear. Beausoleil then stabbed Hinman to death. Beausoleil was arrested on Aug 6, 1969 in Hinman's broken down car. In April 1970, Beausoleil was found guilty & was sentenced to death. It was later commuted to life when CA got rid of the death penalty.
