An early example of pedestrianisation in London Street, Norwich. An historical collection of lost photographs showing a developing Britain from the 1960s were found in a basement at the University of Sheffield department of town and regional planning. 2014 could be a revolutionary year for Norwich. Living Streets have arrived at City Hall to coordinate a programme of walking initiatives funded by the Department of Health. Things are due to properly kick off in May 2014.
Norwich: A Fine City for a Walking Revolution Infographic - As Norwich approaches the 50th anniversary of the opening of the first fully pedestrian street in the UK, the city is perfectly placed to lead a walking revolution in the UK. Walk Norwich is a 15 month programme of work to commence during National Walking Month 2014. With a broad objective of engaging with schools, workplaces and communities, promises a lot for this Walking City.
