Bitting Bros. Store; Wichita, KS
Photo of the first Bitting Brothers store (built in 1879) that was on the northwest corner of Douglas and Market in Wichita, KS. This two-story building was built by William Henry Sternberg (1832 - 1906). The official name of the store (although commonly called the Bitting Brother's Store) was actually the "Keystone Clothing House". The Bitting Brothers (Alfed Bitting and Charles Bitting) became quite wealthy with this upscale store, selling clothing, rugs, toys and more. In later years…
